    This committee involves nine Sahelian countries: Burkina Faso, Cape Verde, Chad, Gambia, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Mauritania, Niger and Senegal. Its mandate is to "invest in food security research and in drought and desertification control for a new ecological balance in the Sahel.
