A survivor of the shipwreck receives medical attention from a Red Cross volunteer.
Horrifying footage emerged on Tuesday showing dozens of migrants desperately trying to escape their deflating dingy and climb aboard a cargo ship that had come to their rescue, just south of Sicily.

Up to 40 people are thought to have died in the incident, while 194 were rescued and brought to the Sicilian port of Catania.
