Over the past five weeks, more than 8,500 people arrived at al-Hol camp in northern Hassakeh province, fleeing the hostilities in Hajin pocket in southeast Deir Ezzor province. Most of them are women, children and elderly. Families fleeing spent at least four nights in the open air desert, under constant threat of being targeted, in heavy rain and cold weather with barely any belongings, food and water.
