They are both Turkmen refugees from Syria who have relocated to the Turkish border town of Yagladi, where Turkish authorities have set up a humanitarian corridor in order to enable safe passage for refugees escaping the bombings in Syria. In Syria, he explained, Turkmen had low status in society. "They would take Alawites first," he said, "even if they had degrees, they couldn't find positions."
