AIDS awareness taken to major nature reserve

An HIV/AIDS awareness roadshow for the benefit of South Africa's Kruger National Park (KNP) employees kicked off this week in Limpopo province. The campaign is part of the park's overall anti-AIDS initiative, which has so far included drama and music, sensitisation workshops, education and condom distribution. BuaNews, the government news agency, quoted KNP executive director Bandile Mkhize as saying: "We have a responsibility to raise overall awareness of the issues concerned, and to give those indirectly and directly affected by the disease the necessary care and support." The roadshow is expected to have a positive effect on neighbouring communities in both Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces, where most of the park's employees and their families live.
