Ugandan president in US on AIDS and terrorism

Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni is to be honoured by the US for his efforts in tackling HIV/AIDS, local newspaper The Monitor reported on Tuesday.

Museveni is currently on a four-day visit in the US for talks with President George W Bush on HIV/AIDS and terrorism.

Bush recently touted Uganda's HIV/AIDS initiative as a potential model for other developing nations battling the spread of the pandemic.

"President Bush looks forward to discussing issues of mutual interest to Uganda and the US, and to strengthen further bilateral ties," White House spokesman, Ari Fleischer said.

Uganda's HIV/AIDS campaign has yielded results by significantly reducing its prevalence rate.
