Kenya - The Right to Stay

In the Mukuru slum, one of the biggest in Nairobi, a group of residents have decided to go to court to demand the right to the land on which they live and the end of forced evictions. Kenya adopted a new Constitution in 2010 which protects the right to housing and sanitation. The case may have far-reaching implications in a city where 60% of the population live in slums. The Right to Stay portrays the struggle of the Mukuru residents and inspirational community leader Jack Evans Omondi Papa. (January 2013)
