Cassava in Côte d’Ivoire

Cassava is a staple food in Côte d'Ivoire, which produces some three million tons of the starchy root every year. It is eaten in various forms by millions of people every day. But, as this short film about a small Abidjan restaurant illustrates, even if cassava prices remained more or less stable during the country's recent political crisis, people have taken to eating less of it because they have much less money to spend.
