QUETTA, 10 November 2008 (IRIN) - At least 1,000 aftershocks have hit Quetta, capital of Balochistan, and the nearby town of Ziarat since the earthquake of 29 October. Around 300 of the jolts have measured above four on the Richter scale, according to Pakistan’s Met Office.
ZIARAT, 04 November 2008 (IRIN) - Dildad Khan, 35, is deeply worried. "I am trying to find someone to give me a loan, so I can immediately start re-building my house. It will start snowing in Ziarat before long, perhaps within weeks, and I must have shelter for my aged parents and my children," the father of four told IRIN. His elderly father is already suffering from a bad cough and fever.
COX'S BAZAR, 29 October 2008 (IRIN) - Thousands of Rohingya, Muslim residents from Myanmar's Northern Rakhine State, continue to languish in southern Bangladesh almost two decades after fleeing Myanmar.
LASHKARGAH, 28 October 2008 (IRIN) - Fighting between Taliban insurgents and Afghan government and international forces in Helmand Province, southern Afghanistan, has displaced Abdul Hadi's family four times in less than two years but he has received no help.
KANDAHAR, 27 October 2008 (IRIN) - Homayun (not his real name) has grown a beard, changed the way he dresses, deleted all foreign names from his mobile, and conceals his ties to aid agencies: He is trying to stay safe in the face of increasing threats to aid workers by the Taliban and other insurgent or criminal groups.
